Acceptable Waste
All Riverside County active landfills are permitted as Class III landfills. Class III landfills accept only non-hazardous municipal solid waste for disposal; no hazardous or liquid waste can be accepted. All customers using Riverside County landfills can expect their loads to be randomly inspected by Load Check Program. This program is designed to keep hazardous materials from entering Riverside County landfills.

What types of waste are NOT accepted at landfills?
- Hazardous waste, asbestos
- Chemicals, fuel tanks, latex and oil-based paints
- Poisons, pesticides
- Human body parts, untreated medical wastes, radioactive material
- Auto body shredder wastes, fuels, batteries
- Explosives, contaminated soil, heavy metals
- Liquid waste (moisture content 50% or greater)
- Nuisance dust
- Chemically treated wood waste (exception for Lamb Canyon and Badlands Landfills)

Special Waste Approval
If your waste stream is out of the ordinary, such as waste generated by a specific manufacturing or treatment process, the Department requires approval of the waste stream through the Department's Special Waste Approval Process.
